Izakaya Night at Ryan's Table
About this experience
Dinner at my place in Shinjuku, cooked the way I learned it from the older guys at the izakaya around the corner. The menu depends on what looked good at the market that morning. There'll be dashimaki tamago (which I'll probably fold in front of you because it's worth watching), some grilled skewers, chicken thigh that's been sitting in sake and miso overnight, and a couple of small dishes I'm trying out. To drink: four or five sake I'm into right now, with a bit of context on each. Bring an appetite and a few hours.

Lovely evening. Six of us around Ryan's table, plates coming out one after the other, sake poured between stories. The dashimaki tamago lived up to the hype. He's an easy host and never lecturing — you just end up learning a lot anyway. I'd happily go back.
