Terms of Service

1. About MeetAnInsider

MeetAnInsider K.K. ('MeetAnInsider', 'the platform') operates an introduction service connecting travellers ('guests') with passionate local and expat residents ('hosts') in Japan. MeetAnInsider is not a tour operator, travel agency, or employer. Hosts are independent individuals — they are not employees, contractors, agents, or representatives of MeetAnInsider, and no employment, partnership, joint venture, or agency relationship is created by their use of the platform. Hosts set their own price, schedule, and method of delivery, and are solely responsible for the conduct of their experiences. We facilitate introductions — we do not provide, supervise, or guarantee the experiences themselves.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By using the platform you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.

3. Booking fee

When a guest completes a booking, MeetAnInsider authorises a booking fee (the 'introduction fee') on the guest's card via Stripe. The fee is captured (charged) once the host confirms the booking; if the host does not confirm, the authorisation is released and the guest is never charged. The fee is 20% of the host's listed slot price, displayed in full at checkout before confirmation.

This fee is MeetAnInsider's only revenue. The host's fee is paid directly to the host in cash on the day. MeetAnInsider never receives or holds the host's fee.

4. Cancellation

All experiences use a flexible cancellation policy. Guests may cancel up to 48 hours before the scheduled start time for a full refund. Cancellations made within 48 hours are non-refundable.

If a host cancels a confirmed booking, the guest receives a full refund regardless of timing. Refunds are processed via Stripe and typically appear within 5–10 business days.

5. Host obligations

By listing an experience, hosts agree to: attend all confirmed bookings on time; provide the experience materially as described; maintain the accuracy of their availability calendar; hold a valid legal right to receive paid income in Japan for the activity they list (including a residence status, visa, or permit that permits paid activity, and any sole-trader or business registration their situation requires); comply with all applicable Japanese laws including income tax, social insurance, and immigration obligations; and not discriminate against guests on the basis of any protected characteristic. Hosts are solely responsible for declaring and paying any taxes due on the fees they receive — MeetAnInsider does not withhold tax and does not act as an employer or payer of record for tax purposes.

The 'Met by our team' designation indicates that MeetAnInsider has conducted a character and passion assessment of the host prior to their first booking. It does not constitute a guarantee of the host's safety record, professional competence, immigration status, or suitability for any purpose. MeetAnInsider facilitates the introduction — what takes place during that time is between the two individuals.

6. Guest obligations

Guests agree to: arrive on time with the QR code from their booking confirmation; pay the host's fee directly on the day in the method(s) specified by the host; treat hosts with respect; and not record or photograph hosts without their consent.

7. Reviews

Only guests who have completed a booking and had both parties confirm the experience may leave a review. Reviews must be truthful and based on the actual experience. MeetAnInsider may remove reviews that contain false statements, personal attacks, or content that violates these terms. MeetAnInsider does not remove reviews solely because they are negative.

8. Intellectual property

Content you upload remains yours. By uploading it, you grant MeetAnInsider a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and reproduce it on the platform and in promotional materials related to your listing. You may revoke this licence by removing the content or closing your account.

9. Limitation of liability

MeetAnInsider is an introduction service — we connect two people. We do not organise, supervise, direct, or take part in the time they spend together. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MeetAnInsider is not liable for personal injury, property damage, or financial loss arising from or in connection with any meeting facilitated through the platform. In no event will MeetAnInsider's aggregate liability exceed the booking fee paid for the specific booking giving rise to the claim.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute arising from or related to these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court.

11. Changes

MeetAnInsider reserves the right to update these terms. Material changes will be notified to registered users by email at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
