MeetAnInsider brings two strangers together for a few hours. Here's how we make sure that's a good thing for everyone involved.

Every host is met in person

Before any host can list an experience, a member of the MeetAnInsider team meets them — a real conversation, not a remote video call. We assess their identity, their passion, their ability to share it, and their legal right to earn income in Japan. Most applicants are not approved. The badge that says "Met by our team" is not decorative. To be precise: it is a passion and authenticity assessment — not a safety inspection or professional certification. It tells you who this person is, not what credentials they hold.

Payments are secure

The MeetAnInsider booking fee is processed by Stripe — your card details never touch our servers. The host's fee is paid directly on the day (cash, PayPay, or bank transfer) and MeetAnInsider never handles it. You'll always see a complete price breakdown before you confirm a booking.

Reviews are verified

Only guests who completed a booking — and had both sides confirm the experience happened — can leave a review. There is no anonymous reviewing, no way to boost a rating, and no way to remove a review unless it violates our content policy. What you read is what people actually experienced.

Cancellations are fair

All experiences use a flexible cancellation policy: full refund if you cancel at least 48 hours before the start time. Cancel within 48 hours and the MeetAnInsider booking fee is non-refundable — but since the host's fee is paid on the day, you're never charged for it on a cancellation.

When things go wrong

What to do

Host doesn't show up

  1. Wait 15 minutes at the agreed meeting point.
  2. Mark a no-show through the app or email support@meetaninsider.com.
  3. You'll receive a full refund of the MeetAnInsider booking fee within 5 business days.
  4. The host will be reviewed by our team and may be suspended.

You need to cancel on the day

  1. Contact us as soon as possible at support@meetaninsider.com.
  2. If cancelled more than 48h before, you'll receive a full refund automatically.
  3. Within 48h, the booking fee is non-refundable. We handle exceptions case by case.

Something happened during the experience

  1. Your safety comes first — if there is an immediate risk, contact local emergency services.
  2. After the experience, report the incident at support@meetaninsider.com with your booking reference.
  3. We investigate all incidents and take action where warranted, including permanent removal from the platform.

You want to report a review

  1. Use the 'Report' link on the review itself.
  2. We remove reviews that contain false statements of fact, personal attacks, or content that violates our policies.
  3. We do not remove reviews simply because they are negative.
